Coherence Quantum is the latest quantum startup launched in Espoo, Finland. Originating from research at Aalto University's Quantum Computing and Devices group, the quantum hardware startup was launched with €2.78 million in seed funding, led by Lifeline Ventures and with participation from tech entrepreneur Mårten Mickos. Coherence Quantum is developing a new approach to the cryogenic infrastructure surrounding solid-state quantum processors.
As quantum computers grow, the infrastructure around the qubits needs to grow as well. Coherence Quantum's goal is to provide quantum computer builders with an architecture that supports larger systems without additional wiring, cooling, or complexity. To tackle these challenges, Coherence Quantum is developing an integrated cryogenic signalling and control platform.
Aashish Sah, the CEO and co-founder, says in Coherence Quantum's press release that the company's technology is focusing first on signal conditioning and then building towards higher-density interfaces, before ultimately moving to more integrated cryogenic control.
Espoo is home to one of the world's leading quantum clusters, with top Finnish quantum companies and R&D players located in the city. Coherence Quantum is now strengthening the ecosystem by building dedicated R&D, testing and manufacturing capabilities, bringing together expertise in quantum physics, cryogenics, RF engineering and product development.
Joining a growing number of Espoo-based quantum technology companies, Coherence Quantum is the latest example of how Espoo's deep tech ecosystem is helping turn innovation into globally relevant businesses.
