The Espoo-based food tech startup eniferBio has raised €11 million in a series A funding round. The startup spin-off from VTT produces sustainable fungal protein derived from food and agricultural by-products.

With this new investment, eniferBio aims to significantly increase its production capacity of PEKILO® mycoprotein powder production capacity to several thousand tons annually. Additionally, the company plans to initiate the process of obtaining novel food approval in the EU and other markets.

The global aquaculture investment fund Aqua-Spark led the investment. Other participants in the round included Tesi, Valio, Voima Ventures, and Nordic Foodtech VC.
