sustainable tourism

Sustainability is important for travel operators in Espoo and the entire city. Espoo is an innovative actor in sustainable development and aims not only to be carbon neutral in 2030 and but also the most sustainable city in Europe permanently.

Visit Espoo supports this goal by developing sustainable tourism in the city together with the local travel operators. In February 2021, Visit Espoo published its own roadmap of sustainable tourism for 2021–2030 where we focus on promoting accessibility, as well as responsible and inclusive practices in the Espoo region.

We also actively encourage our partners to engage in the Sustainable Travel Finland program. Espoo’s travel operators have been pioneers of eco-friendly tourism for a long time, and many of our tourism operators are already certified, sustainable travel operators.
