Finland is ranked number 1 in food security — 2020 Global Food Security Index

Share

Finland is ranked first in the 2020 Global Food Security Index, recently published by The Economist. The index assesses 113 countries based on food quality, availability, affordability, and safety, along with natural resources and resilience.

Ireland and the Netherlands join Finland in the top 3.

Globally, food security kept decreasing in 2020. The main reasons included intensive farming and climate change. Covid-19 can’t be ignored, either — the pandemic caused problems, and not least to farmers.
