Finland is the world leader in sustainability — UN Sustainable Development Report 2021

Share

The UN's Sustainable Development Report 2021 ranks Finland first in the world in sustainable development. The report assesses countries' progress in working towards the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which the UN has adopted to provide peace and prosperity worldwide.

Finland has already completed some of the 17 SDGs, including no poverty, quality education, clean water and sanitation, and affordable and clean energy. Finland still has work to do to achieve goals such as climate action and responsible consumption. Finland has pledged to accomplish all SDGs by 2030.

The City of Espoo has committed to achieve the SDGs and be carbon neutral already by 2025. The sustainability work and innovations created in Espoo's innovation ecosystem are keys to achieving this ambitious goal.
