Espoo has reached the World Smart City Awards finals. Espoo's Impact Leadership program, focusing on using data-driven decision-making to improve city management, earned a nomination in the main category of the awards.

Espoo ranks sixth in patent applications in Europe — Patent Index 2023

Espoo is ranked sixth in the Patent Index 2023 published by the European Patent Office. Espoo files the sixth most patents of all cities in Europe. Espoo's innovation players made 60.5% of all patent applications in Finland.
