IQM’s first quantum computer in Asia-Pacific installed — New office opens in Seoul

IQM Quantum Computers has finished installation of a 5-qubit quantum computer in Chungbuk National University, South Korea. The computer, IQM Spark, is IQM’s first quantum computer that goes online in the Asia-Pacific region. The installation took only four months.

Encouraged by this milestone, IQM announces that it will set up an office in Seoul. The company appoints Youngsim Kim as Country Manager for South Korea.

“We are excited to welcome Youngsim, and with a wealth of quantum knowledge, leadership experience and regional expertise, we are confident she will drive our growth and strategic initiatives in Korea,” says Mikko Välimäki, Co-CEO of IQM, in IQM’s press release.

The Seoul office will be IQM’s second office in Asia-Pacific. From June onwards, the Espoo-based company will have offices in South Korea, Singapore, Finland, France, Spain, Germany, Poland, and the US.
