VTT and Fazer achieve successful research results in cell-cultured cocoa production

VTT and the Finnish food giant Fazer have achieved successful results in creating cocoa through cellular agriculture.

In cellular agriculture, no arable farming land is needed, and natural resource use is cut down to a minimum. Instead, the production happens in bioreactors.

The thought of getting to tear the wrapper off a cell-cultured chocolate bar remains far away, however. But through the pioneering research collaboration, VTT and Fazer have taken concrete steps toward making this delicious fantasy a reality.
