San Francisco-based policy advisor, Startup Genome, ranked the Helsinki Capital Region 20th in its Global Startup Ecosystem Report: Cleantech Edition. Funding, startup experience, focus, knowledge, and talent were some categories included in the assessment.

The Helsinki Capital Region consists of the cities of Helsinki, Vantaa, Espoo, and Kauniainen.

Some contributing factors to the region's flourishing cleantech ecosystem are the presence of incubators, such as VTT LaunchPad and Espoo and Helsinki's goal to achieve carbon-neutrality by 2030.
