IQM will deliver quantum processing units for Spain's first quantum computer. The project will further position the Espoo-based startup at the forefront of European quantum computer companies. The quantum computer will be installed at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center and integrated into Spain's most powerful supercomputer, MareNostrum 5.

IQM is a member of the Spanish consortium led by Qilimanjaro Quantum Tech and GMV. The Espoo-based company will deliver the first processing unit by the second quarter of 2023.

IQM and VTT built Finland's first quantum computer, Helmi, in 2021. In autumn 2022, Helmi was connected with Finland's LUMI supercomputer, also built in Espoo.
